Not utilisation: the bars show how many frames per second each side allows, relative to the stronger of the two.
Balanced for 1440p. The graphics card is the narrower side, and at this resolution that is how it should be: more pixels load the card, not the processor. Your processor keeps headroom (61 % apart), which is why the frame rate stays steady in busy scenes. There is no reason to upgrade. At around 282 frames, more power no longer changes the band you play in.
How do I open the file?
The downloaded file ends in .md (Markdown), that's a plain text file, not a program, and completely harmless. To open it: 1) A double-click is often enough. 2) If your OS asks which app to use: right-click the file "Open with" Notepad (or TextEdit on Mac). 3) For a nicely formatted view with headings, use a Markdown viewer, e.g. drag the file into the dillinger.io window or open it in Obsidian. No sign-in or extra software needed.
What does the machine cost to run?
Power cost based on your play time and tariff
This is a different number from the one in the Your build box: that one counts the parts alone, this one adds 60 W base load and the power supply loss.
Guide value from the manufacturer figures for CPU and graphics card, plus 60 W base load and 90 percent PSU efficiency. Games rarely load hardware fully, so real draw is usually lower.
Three steps, one answer.
First what is in your machine, then what you want to reach and for how much, then the result. Every number visibly carries what it rests on.
Enter what is in your machine. Leave open what you do not know. We then claim nothing about it instead of guessing a number.
Taken from the Windows app. The upgrade suggestions are calculated for exactly these parts.

If something is wrong, you can change the parts below.
If you leave this empty we cannot check later whether your power supply is enough for an upgrade. The wattage is on the label on the power supply.
All the way left means: do not know. Then we claim nothing about it. You can also type the number directly.
No machine at all yet?
Every part. Directly compared.
Pick two products from the full palette, we show the frame rate in your scene, gaming performance, price estimate, price/performance and the key technical data head to head.
In Fortnite, 1440p, High the NVIDIA RTX 4070 is ahead: 272 to 256 FPS, that is 6 percent more than the NVIDIA RTX 3080.
Averaged across all games the NVIDIA RTX 3080 is ahead: gaming performance 58 to 56 out of 100, that is 3 percent more.
Those are two different measures. The frame rate applies to the scene you set, gaming performance is a rating across all games. They can point at different parts.
- more frames per second in the scene you set
- more VRAM, high textures and 4K without stutter
- higher boost clock, more raw performance per core
- more efficient, more performance per watt, cooler & quieter

| Technical data | NVIDIA RTX 4070 | NVIDIA RTX 3080 |
|---|---|---|
| VRAMGraphics memory in GB. Too little = texture stutter at high settings and 4K. Guideline: 8 GB for 1080p, 12-16 GB for 1440p/4K. | 12 GB | 10 GB |
| Boost clockMaximum clock of the graphics chip in MHz. Higher helps, but it is only ONE factor, gaming performance counts for more than raw clock. | 2475 MHz | 1710 MHz |
| Power draw (TBP)Total board power draw in watts. Determines how strong your PSU must be and how warm/loud the card gets. | 200 W | 320 W |
| Memory typeThe graphics memory type. GDDR7 > GDDR6X > GDDR6 in bandwidth. Higher bandwidth helps mostly at 4K and with high textures. | GDDR6X | GDDR6X |
| InterfaceThe PCIe interface. Newer versions (5.0) are faster but backward-compatible, a PCIe 4.0 card also runs in an older board. | PCIe 4.0 | PCIe 4.0 |
"-" = detailed data for this product is coming. Scores are relative gaming performance values (0-100), prices are formula-based estimates. FPS values are model estimates with reference CPU (AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D), so the comparison isolates only the chosen products.
